Washington Rules of the Road: Obedience to police officers, flaggers, or firefighters–Penalty

This chapter of the rules of the road states it is against the law to disregard a member of law enforcement’s traffic signals. Commonly, things of this nature have been ignored when an auto-accident causes injury.

46.61.015. Obedience to police officers, flaggers, or firefighters–Penalty

(1) No person shall willfully fail or refuse to comply with any lawful order or direction of any duly authorized flagger or any police officer or firefighter invested by law with authority to direct, control, or regulate traffic.

(2) A violation of this section is a misdemeanor.

If you’ve been injured in a Kent, Seattle, Everett, Renton or Lynnwood car accident due to a negligent driver (such as somebody that disregarded a flagger’s stop signal), there’s a very good chance you may be able to receive financial compensation for your medical bills, pain and suffering and any other harm caused to you by the incident. Washington Rules of The Road: 46.61.140. Driving on roadways laned for traffic

In this chapter of the rules of the road, the laws for abiding by lane markers are identified. Frequently, violation of such laws is a direct result of injuries in Kent.

Whenever any roadway has been divided into two or more clearly marked lanes for traffic the following rules in addition to all others consistent herewith shall apply:

(1) A vehicle shall be driven as nearly as practicable entirely within a single lane and shall not be moved from such lane until the driver has first ascertained that such movement can be made with safety.

(2) Upon a roadway which is divided into three lanes and provides for two-way movement of traffic, a vehicle shall not be driven in the center lane except when overtaking and passing another vehicle traveling in the same direction when such center lane is clear of traffic within a safe distance, or in preparation for making a left turn or where such center lane is at the time allocated exclusively to traffic moving in the same direction that the vehicle is proceeding and such allocation is designated by official traffic-control devices.

(3) Official traffic-control devices may be erected directing slow moving or other specified traffic to use a designated lane or designating those lanes to be used by traffic moving in a particular direction regardless of the center of the roadway and drivers of vehicles shall obey the directions of every such device.

(4) Official traffic-control devices may be installed prohibiting the changing of lanes on sections of roadway and drivers of vehicles shall obey the directions of every such device.

Kent Car Accident Attorney: FAQ

April 20, 2011 by admin · Leave a Comment

Q. Should I contact the other driver’s insurance company?

A. Unless you want to jeopardize your case, it is far better to hire a personal injury attorney to handle any communication. Most people have no concept of how the other side can twist something you have said so that you are robbed of much of the compensation you deserve, if not all of it.

Q. How soon after an accident should I contact an attorney?

A. If there are injuries or the possibility of injuries, contact an attorney that understands car accident lawsuits as soon as possible. Whether you are the victim or the cause of the accident, having good legal advice from the beginning can make the difference between a successful case and great loss.

Q. I wasn’t wearing my seatbelt when my car accident occurred. Can this be held against me in a suit for damages?

A. According to the Washington State Safety Restraint Coalition web site, failure to wear safety restraints does not constitute negligence and cannot be used to prove negligence in a civil case.

If you’ve been injured in a Kent car accident and would like to discuss the matter with an attorney, we welcome you to schedule a legal consultation at a place of your convenience, free of charge. Call our Kent car accident lawyers at 800-282-4878 today.

Jane Doe v. John Doe driver: King County Superior Court No. 02-2-26432-8 Seattle woman involved in a motor vehicle accident suffered spinal injuries to her neck and low back, radiculopathy, and a worsening of her pre-existing fibromyalgia. A Microsoft employee with a stellar record, she was forced to miss about one year of work over 4 years. According to her rheumatologists, she could not return to her high-stress job as the extra hours and demands of being bent over a computer for most of the day made her injuries worse and caused her to lose sleep. The treating doctors told her to find a 30-40 hour a week job rather than her 50-60 hour position. Given that she was a large wage earner, the insurer agreed to pay its half million dollar policy limit to settle the case.

Settlement: $500,000

FAQ from Kent Car Accident Lawyer Rob Kornfeld

Q. Is there any information I should get to support my claim?

A. Yes. You should take pictures of the accident scene if you can. This should be done as soon as possible, as evidence is often swept away within hours. Also, take pictures of yourself and any passengers immediately after the accident. Follow up with pictures a few days later, when bruises, etc. become apparent.

Q. If I feel fine after an automobile accident, should I still go to see a doctor?

A. Anyone who was in the car during an accident should consider seeing a doctor to make sure that there aren’t any hidden injuries. Often you won’t feel the effects of an injury until the next day or two. Scheduling a doctor’s visit the day of an accident is a wise precaution. When you do see the doctor, make sure to mention any complaint you may have, no matter how minor. Don’t play medical expert and evaluate the importance of a symptom. Let the doctor do his/her job.

Q. Should I contact the other driver’s insurance company?

A. Unless you want to jeopardize your case, it is far better to hire a personal injury attorney to handle any communication. Most people have no concept of how the other side can twist something you have said so that you are robbed of much of the compensation you deserve, if not all of it.

A school bus with 36 children on board rolled over Wednesday afternoon, but all the kids on board just have minor bumps and bruises.

The accident happened around 4 p.m. near the intersection of Buckland Road and Nelson Road near Conway, south of Mount Vernon.

The school bus was driven by a 41-year-old female substitute bus driver for the Conway School District. She had been on the job for only two days.

The bus has come from Conway School to take the children home.

The children ranged from 5 to 14 years old and suffered only minor bumps and bruises, according to aid crews.

Investigators say the substitute driver was momentarily distracted when she looked down at her route map, taking her eyes off the road.

No other vehicles were involved.

The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office will determine if the driver will be cited.

If your child was hurt in this crash or a similar situation to the above it may have traumatized them beyond their physical injuries. Let us help you get financially compensated! Contact the Kent, WA Personal Injury Lawyers at Kornfeld Law today.
