Hess was eastbound in a Nissan Titan when he left the road to the left, overcorrected, crossed both eastbound lanes and rolled, troopers said. The pickup landed on its wheels on the right shoulder.

December 2, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

A five-car accident on I-66 East near the Beltway has closed two lanes and is causing big traffic backups this morning. The Virginia Department of Transportation reported that the accident occurred just west of the Beltway and that two eastbound right lanes are blocked. It happened a short time ago and fire and rescue arrived on the scene shortly after 6:30 a.m.

An earlier accident on I-66 East, near Nutley Street, has been moved to the shoulder. An accident on I-66 West, also just west of the Beltway, involving a tractor-trailer and a car has also been moved to the shoulder and is no longer blocking any lanes.

Since then the Washington post has posted updates about the accident.

No arrests in pedestrian-car accident in Kent; woman knocked 150 feet

November 13, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

A 41-year-old Kent man will not face charges from King County prosecutors in connection with his vehicle reportedly hitting a Kent woman Oct. 27 as she tried to cross the Benson Highway to catch a bus.

Narmada Timsina, 22, was hit as she tried to cross the road at about 5:09 a.m. Oct. 27 in the 22400 block of the Benson Highway, also known as 108th Avenue Southeast. Timsina remained in fair condition Wednesday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, a nursing supervisor said.

There are no crosswalks where the woman crossed the street and it was extremely dark at the time of the accident, said Trooper Dan McDonald, spokesman for the Washington State Patrol.

Initial reports indicated the driver did not stop after his vehicle reportedly struck the woman, but detectives learned later the man did stop.

“He stopped and then left because of a language barrier,” McDonald said. “He later called police. He came forward in a reasonable manner so prosecutors decided they did not have enough to charge him with hit-and-run.”

McDonald said it had been harder to get details about the accident because neither Timsina nor the driver of the car that reportedly struck her speaks English.

Troopers responded to the accident and found Timsina lying in the middle of the northbound lanes. The woman tried crossing the five-lane highway from the west to the east when she was hit in the northbound lanes.

The woman was knocked an estimated 150 to 200 feet.

Washington Personal Injuries - Motor Vehicle Accidents

July 5, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

Lawsuits based on personal injuries as a result of motor vehicle accidents are arising more and more frequently than they were known to fifty or sixty years ago. As the number of drivers on the road has multiplied exponentially, so has the rate of motor vehicle accidents causing injury and death. Insurance companies take care to protect their assets and tend to approach such claims aggressively, which makes it important for victims of such accidents to contact an attorney as soon as any medical conditions have stabilized.

After being involved in a motor vehicle accident, those who are not hospitalized initially tend to focus on the damages to their property first and their injuries later. This can actually be a damaging factor in a motor vehicle suit based on personal injury. Damages done to a vehicle in a collision will not heal as injuries to the human body will over time. This is why it is pertinent to seek medical attention before arranging repairs to be completed on the vehicle.

Although it is highly recommended to wait to have the vehicle repaired, photographs (digital or 35mm, not Polaroid) should be taken of the damages to the vehicle and the sustained injuries as soon as possible. This evidence will support a case of personal injury in a motor vehicle accident. If possible, any witnesses should be approached for contact information. Strangers make excellent witnesses in such cases, as their recounts of the incident tend to be more neutral than that of friends or family members who were present.

A Kent, Washington car accident is always stressful.  You are not alone.

This post has been prepared to help guide you through some of the steps you should take to insure that your property damage claim is handled speedily and that your interests are protected.  When an accident is someone else’s fault, generally that person’s insurance company will compensate you directly.  Otherwise, your own insurance company may reimburse you for your vehicle, e.g. property damage, if you have the appropriate insurance coverage.  A property damage claim is resolved in one of two ways: either your car can be repaired or it will be considered a total loss - meaning that the cost of the repair exceeds the actual value of the vehicle.

An Injury Doesn’t Guarantee You a Washington Car Crash Settlement

June 2, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

Insurance companies don’t want to give you money for your Washington Car Accident Injury.

Some insurance companies are pros at trying to minimize the amount they pay out for personal injury settlements. It’s important that you not insist you’re OK right after the accident, that you immediately write down your recollection of the event, and that you begin documenting your pain and suffering as well as all expenses that you incur as a result of your injury.

A Washington car accident attorney can help you preserve evidence early in the process. They can also advocate on your behalf to the big insurance companies. In fact, they can do a lot of legal legwork for you while you’re recovering at home. Many personal injury lawyers only get paid if you do, and almost all will offer a free Washington injury initial consultation so you can weigh your options.
