(1) No person shall willfully fail or refuse to comply with any lawful order or direction of any duly authorized flagger or any police officer or firefighter invested by law with authority to direct, control, or regulate traffic.

(2) A violation of this section is a misdemeanor.

Washington Rules of The Road: 46.61.140. Driving on roadways laned for traffic

In this chapter of the rules of the road, the laws for abiding by lane markers are identified. Frequently, violation of such laws is a direct result of injuries in Kent.

Whenever any roadway has been divided into two or more clearly marked lanes for traffic the following rules in addition to all others consistent herewith shall apply:

(1) A vehicle shall be driven as nearly as practicable entirely within a single lane and shall not be moved from such lane until the driver has first ascertained that such movement can be made with safety.

(2) Upon a roadway which is divided into three lanes and provides for two-way movement of traffic, a vehicle shall not be driven in the center lane except when overtaking and passing another vehicle traveling in the same direction when such center lane is clear of traffic within a safe distance, or in preparation for making a left turn or where such center lane is at the time allocated exclusively to traffic moving in the same direction that the vehicle is proceeding and such allocation is designated by official traffic-control devices.

(3) Official traffic-control devices may be erected directing slow moving or other specified traffic to use a designated lane or designating those lanes to be used by traffic moving in a particular direction regardless of the center of the roadway and drivers of vehicles shall obey the directions of every such device.

(4) Official traffic-control devices may be installed prohibiting the changing of lanes on sections of roadway and drivers of vehicles shall obey the directions of every such device.

Skagit County School Bus Rolls Over

A school bus with 36 children on board rolled over Wednesday afternoon, but all the kids on board just have minor bumps and bruises.

The accident happened around 4 p.m. near the intersection of Buckland Road and Nelson Road near Conway, south of Mount Vernon.

The school bus was driven by a 41-year-old female substitute bus driver for the Conway School District. She had been on the job for only two days.

The bus has come from Conway School to take the children home.

The children ranged from 5 to 14 years old and suffered only minor bumps and bruises, according to aid crews.

Investigators say the substitute driver was momentarily distracted when she looked down at her route map, taking her eyes off the road.

No other vehicles were involved.

The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office will determine if the driver will be cited.

According to TMZ, Jake Harris who is one of the stars of Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch” show, got arrested last night in Seattle for a DUI (driving under the influence). They say Jake Harris is currently in jail for getting into a car crash last night,while driving intoxicated. Jake was arrested inSeattle on suspicion of DUI,hit and run,and driving with a suspended license. All of those charges are misdemeanors.

Jake was taken to a nearby jail,and booked. His bail was set at $1,500. Jake Harris is 24 years old,and his father, Captain Phil Harris recently made headline news when he died earlier this month due to complications from a stroke he had. Jake Harris is the youngest son and started on “Deadliest Catch” a couple of seasons ago. He takes part in every aspect of work on the deck,which includes bossing around his older brother Josh and a new member named Greenhorn Ryan.
