I-66 East Accident This Morning

A five-car accident on I-66 East near the Beltway has closed two lanes and is causing big traffic backups this morning. The Virginia Department of Transportation reported that the accident occurred just west of the Beltway and that two eastbound right lanes are blocked. It happened a short time ago and fire and rescue arrived on the scene shortly after 6:30 a.m.

An earlier accident on I-66 East, near Nutley Street, has been moved to the shoulder. An accident on I-66 West, also just west of the Beltway, involving a tractor-trailer and a car has also been moved to the shoulder and is no longer blocking any lanes.
